Paper Airplane Airplane Folding Instructions

Step 1

1. Hold the paper so the long edge is facing you and fold the paper in half, left to right.

Step 2

2. Then fold the left and right sides over to meet this middle crease. Unfold.

Step 3

3. Fold the top two corners down to meet the outer creases, making two triangles.

Step 4

4. Fold the top edges in to the center crease. Unfold.

Step 5

5. Fold the left and right sides in to meet the crease made in the previous step.

Step 6

6. Refold the crease made in step 4.

Step 7

7. Fold the tip of the airplane down so the point matches up with the corners that meet in the middle.

Step 8

8. Fold the left and right sides over again so the top edges meet at the center crease.

Step 9

9. Fold the airplane in half and measure 6.3cm (2.5in) in from both the bottom and back side. Connect the measurements and draw a diagonal line.

Step 10

10. Cut along the diagonal line. Save the triangle piece.

Step 11

11. Fold the tips of the triangle piece up to the center to make a square. Then fold that in half to make a small triangle.

Step 12

12. This small triangle should be inserted into the tip of the airplane to add the necessary nose weight. You can also tape it to the back side of the tip if you prefer.

Step 13

13. Use plenty of tape to stick down the entire length of both sides of the wing so it lays flat.

Step 14

14. Fold up the wingtips on either side.

Final Paper Airplane Design Sky OmniWing

Give the center crease an upward dihedral bend and give the outer two creases a slight downward anhedral bend. For best performance, the center of mass should be 8.0cm (3.15in) back from the nose. You can adjust this with some extra pieces of tape as necessary. Hold the airplane with two fingers on top and your thumb underneath and give it a gentle toss. It should float gently away from you in a nice glide.
