A locking fold keeps this paper airplane together during flight. No tape, staples or paperclips required!
Paper Airplane Folding Instructions
1. Fold one corner down to meet the other side. Unfold and repeat with the other corner.
2. Unfold and flip the paper over. Fold the top down so the new crease goes right through the cross made by the previous step.
3. Unfold and flip the paper over. Accordion fold the sides into the middle and press flat.
4. Fold the top point down to meet the edge of the top layer of paper.
5. Unfold everything to the beginning. Then fold on the existing crease which is just under the middle of the paper.
6. Fold that crease all the way over so it goes past the bottom.
7. Take the vertical crease on the right side and fold it inside the airplane, tucking it all the way inside.
8. Repeat with the other side.
9. Spin the paper around and carefully re-fold all the existing creases so the center point folds in and the edges accordion fold into the middle.
10. Keep accordion folding the sides in, making sure the left and right sides of the top layer reach all the way out to both sides.
11. Press it all flat.
12. Fold one side of the top layer diagonally so it points forward now.
13. Repeat with the other side.
14. Fold these points backwards around the back and tuck them into the pocket created by the previous steps.
15. Press it all flat.
16. Flip the airplane over and use a ruler to make a diagonal fold on both sides, making a pocket. The depth of the pocket should be about 2.5cm (1 inch).
17. Fold the airplane in half, making sure the pocket folds inward and lays flat.
18. Fold the airplane entirely in half, and align the left and right sides so the airplane is symmetrical.
19. Fold the wings out, making the folds line up with the pocket on the inside. This special fold will create a lock that will hold the airplane together as it flies.
20. Fold up the two winglets on either side.
Bend the trailing edges of the wings up or down slightly as needed to get a level flight. If you throw it straight up as high as you can, it may level off and glide for a long time.
