This paper airplane is styled after Darth Vader's TIE Fighter from Star Wars.
This is an acrobatic design that likes to quickly dart around in the air to evade blaster shots.
Paper Airplane Folding Instructions
1. Holding the paper vertically, fold the top down to the bottom and then fold it in half again from left to right.
2. Unfold the horizontal fold and then fold the top two corners to the center.
3. Unfold all the way and then accordion fold the sides in.
4. Fold the top point down to the bottom.
5. Fold it back up as shown, leaving about 23mm of overlap.
6. Fold the airplane in half.
7. Fold the tip of the plane up and in. Then fold the little triangle sides back flush with the body. Glue them back if you like.
8. Fold both wings out, making a body that is about 2.5cm tall.
9. Take the top layer of the right wing and fold the edge in about 1.5cm and then fold again. (See the video or printable template for details)
10. Finally, repeat with the bottom layer and again with the two layers on left side. Adjust the wing so they are curved rather than folded.
Hold this paper plane near the middle and throw with a gentle toss. You can adjust how much the wings curve over to change the flight characteristics. If you are careful to make it symmetrical and adjust it properly, it can fly pretty far.
